Artist's Thought About the Artwork
"The beautiful, wooden Pasila area of Finland's capital city area, Helsinki, where I spent almost my whole childhood, was destroyed to ground house by house after the year 1961, when I moved away from my parent's house.
In the enchanting old Pasila all the houses looked different, and on their yards there were small flowerbeds and berry bushes and apple trees. Lilacs were flourishing almost everywhere. Bonfires were lighten up in the area of the present water towers, and people were gathering around them.
My artwork is about a very central place in Pasila as it used be, as I see it in my memories."
