Tea Kuikko is a graphics and fabric designer, artist, and entrepreneur from Lappeenranta, Finland. Additionally, she occasionally teaches arts in Lappeenranta School of Visual Arts and acts a Board Member of Lappeenranta Art Society.
“One’s eyes can see and feel so much—more than just words can capture. Graphic design is like a living creature having a judicious mind of its own. It is about what we feel, when our fingers face a surface: a paper, a fabric, an oat milk can, a shampoo bottle, a forest.
I taste and explore items and instants to feel them. I observe moments like—what is the scent of this forest, how does it feel to jump in this ice-cold Finnish lake? Just to be and breathe matters to me. Idleness can be a creative nest. Basic things like relaxing by dancing in the evenings are comforting to me. My inner concert is damn important for me to defrost. These same experiences and feelings lead my graphic design.”
